We just got home from our first trip to Amelia Island, Florida and it was perfect!
We arrived on a Wednesday afternoon and checked in to our beautiful hotel, Hampton Inn & Suites- Amelia Island Historic Harbour Front. The location of this hotel cannot be beat, it’s in the center of the Historic District and you can walk to everything. It also includes breakfast every morning, the staff is super helpful, a beautiful pool and gym, and our room (we got a suite) was clean and newly renovated.
Here is a little room tour:Watch Room Tour
We walked down a couple of streets and ended up at Amelia Island Brewing Company for dinner. This vibe was so fun and the food was exceptional! We especially loved the Fried Mac & Cheese, Pretzel with Beer Cheese, Burgers, and Key Lime Pie.
There is a boat marina across from our hotel so we walked along that during sunset. It was stunning!
The next morning, we took an electric skateboarding tour with Amelia Island Board Rental. My mom actually saw this online and knew we would love it, she was right! It was so fun and the owner was fabulous! This was the first time we’ve ever done something like this and loved it!
We headed back to the hotel for a quick lunch by the pool.
Then it was time for the beach…we went to Main Beach Park and it was beautiful! We played in the sand, boogie boarded, and flew a kite.
For dinner that night, we ate Sliders Seaside. This place is really fun especially for kids…they have a little playground right by the outdoor seating so parents can watch while they relax. Our favorites here were: Lobster Bisque, Chicken Wings, and Death by Chocolate!
The next morning, we headed to Fort Clinch Park first thing! If you’ve been following me on social media, you know how much our family loves collecting shark teeth. When I found out they have a ton here, I knew this was a must for us. This park is so beautiful and unique…tons of nature trails, you can tour the Fort, and then of course walk around the water looking for shark teeth. We had a lot of fun!
We were starving after the morning at the park so we headed to Salty Pelican for lunch. This was right by our hotel which was super convenient. It was really tasty! The vibe is really fun and they served the kids meal on a frisbee that they got to keep…it was a super cute touch! Our favorites: the Brussel sprout appetizer, chicken wings, and the burgers.
Then it was time to explore the Historic District! This area is simply adorable with lots of shops, restaurants, and even an art gallery. Some of our favorite stores: Villa Villekulla, Twister Sister, Ships Lantern, Cinnamon Bear, The Book Loft, JJ Cooper, and Pelindaba Lavender.
We stopped for a little ice-cream and fudge at Fantastic Fudge. The kids really enjoyed watching the fudge making process!
Right in this area is also Gregor MacGregor’s Mini Links and Drinks! It’s a fun little mini golf course with a bar as well. We played mini golf for a bit and had a great time!
For dinner we drove over to the beach and ate at Salt Life Food Shack. This place was SO cool! It is directly across from the beach so you have beautiful views! They have live music and the food was insanely good! Our favorites: Crunch Roll, Chips & Queso, Beach Boil, Pan Seared Chicken Pasta, and the Chocolate Cake.
After a yummy breakfast at the hotel…
I had one more big surprise for my family the next morning…we had a private surfing lesson booked with Surf Asylum. This was INCREDIBLE! The staff was so nice and showed us on land first what to do. My kids both were able to get up and rode the first wave they tried. I was speechless! None of us wanted to leave, we had such a great time and learned so much. Their employees were wonderful.
Then it was time to head home! We had a fabulous trip in Amelia Island and it was one that we will never forget!
This trip was hosted by Visit Amelia Island but all opinions are mine.
