When farmhouse sinks first started to come back, I LOVED the style! However, when we had our kids I assumed a farmhouse sink just wouldn’t work for us because I used the double bowls so much (one side for washing and one for a drying rack). But…when we started designing our new kitchen, I found out they make farmhouse sinks with double bowls and I put that back on the drawing board and started researching to see if this was the right choice for us!
The more I read about farmhouse sinks, the more I fell in love with them. The large, deep sink bowls make it easy to clean dishes or even bathe a baby or pet!! You don’t even have to lean down while doing dishes because the sink is right at your stomach! They are so large that dishes are more hidden as well, yay for less visible messes!! My favorite thing is the look of them…so beautiful! I love that they look good in all types of kitchens. My style is coastal modern, definitely not farmhouse but I knew a farmhouse sink would look great with our style!
Then it came to picking the actual sink. I researched manufacturers and I kept coming back to American Standard. They have been around 140 years and they are the leading manufacturer for plumbing and building in North America. Their standard and reviews speak for themselves. I was so impressed.
I also did a lot of research on the type of material to get. I decided on fireclay because it is more durable than ceramic sinks, as they are nonporous and very heat resistant. Ceramic sinks run a higher risk of chipping or scratching. I also decided against cast iron sinks because those tend to rust in time.
After those decisions were made…double bowl, American Standard, and fireclay as the material…it narrowed me down to the beautiful hand-crafted, Avery Double Bowl Apron Sink! Isn’t she a beauty?
“As sleek as it is substantial, this clean, apron-front, double bowl design provides ample sink space for both everyday use and entertaining. Featuring a durable, 3-layer, nonporous surface, the Avery fine fireclay sink resists chipping, scratching, and is easy to clean. Surface. ”- from the American Standard website.
We love the style of this but it’s also been a joy to have in our kitchen, makes cleaning up so much easier! It comes with a protective stainless-steel bottom grid which we use on the right side to dry our dishes on. It also comes with a 5-year limited warranty on the sink, that’s how you know the quality of American Standard!!
If you need a great water filter for under the sink, check these out!
As for the faucet, we went with their Saybrook Filtered Kitchen Faucet with the Pull-Down Spray Head (in stainless steel), they look gorgeous together! Plus, I don’t have to worry about our water being dirty, this American Standard kitchen faucet reduces 99.7% of lead, 96.9% of chlorine, and 92.6% of class I particulates from your tap water at the push of a button (300 gallons are filtered with a single filter). For drinking and cooking, you simply push the button on the spray head for filtered water. For ordinary tap water, you use the lever handle. There is also an LED indicator light, so you’ll know when the filter needs to be replaced. Isn’t that great?
We are so pleased with our American Standard Avery Double Bowl Apron Sink and Saybrook Filtered Kitchen Faucet! I can’t wait to continue to use it in our forever home. I’ll be sharing a kitchen reveal here in a few weeks!
This is beautiful! I thought they only had one tub, I am looking into this now that I know they carry 2!
Isn’t that great? I was so happy to see that too!

I love the look of that farmhouse sink! The size is perfect, although it’s really big it looks blends in great with the kitchen.
I would LOVE one of these! They look so amazing but unfortunately it doesn’t fit in my kitchen! I did actually try to see if it would but it I would need to re-do my entire bench. I’ll just admire from afar!
Aww well maybe you will have room someday! 🙂
The sink looks great. I never thought to use the clay, but I will remember for our next move.
