Every year I email Camden and Ella a letter on their birthday (plus other random ones throughout the year). I hope when they are older they login to the email account I created and read all of these letters. This year I decided to share their birthday letters with you.
Dear Camden and Ella,
Happy 3rd Birthday!! Every year we celebrate the greatest gifts that I’ve ever been given, you! It’s my favorite day of the year. I feel like I don’t get overly emotional except around your birthday (don’t get me wrong, I’ll be a basket case on your first day of preschool). I sit back and think about everything we did this year and how much you’ve grown, I can’t help but smile and cry! If I could, I’d just keep you this age forever. It’s so much fun!
Where have the last 3 years gone? It feels like just yesterday you were born. You were so petite and so perfect!
This past year has been BUSY. My blog has taken off and you’ve really become world travelers. You are now potty trained. You are speaking a million words a minute and so curious about everything in this world. You are still the best sleepers in the world, we are so thankful for that! 😉 You always keep us on our toes!
When we aren’t traveling, we are usually at home or at the beach (your favorite place in the world)! Camden, you love to look for shells and chase seagulls! Ella, you like to build sand castles and EAT. I swear, I can’t ever pack enough food for the beach, you eat it all!
We’ve also had a lot of crazy moments this year. The one that really stands out to me is when we toured the White House. Your mommy and daddy were so excited about finally getting an invite for this tour. I picked out special outfits and spent so much time planning all the details. Well…. you two had other plans that day, you were a little “extra”. Scratch that, you were VERY “extra” that day. At the time, I wanted to cry but now that I think about it, it just makes me laugh. No one ever said twin toddlers would be easy. 😉
This next year will be a big one…you start preschool (you’re going to love it), we have a million trips planned, you both start soccer, and so many more things! I’m so excited to go through age THREE with you!
Camden- I’ve said this since the day you were born but I still mean it to this day, “God knew my heart needed you!” I always pictured myself as a girl mom but he had other plans and I’m so glad. You have me wrapped around your finger and you know it. I hate the phrase “he’s such a boy” but that’s really you, you love sports, being loud, dinosaurs, superheroes, all the typical boy things. You also have the sweetest side ever, you don’t like to see anyone upset, you love animals, and you give the best hugs! You are handsome, so smart, stubborn, strong, LOUD, funny…and the sweetest little boy I’ve ever known! You are the only extrovert in our house and gosh you exhaust us somedays but we wouldn’t change you for the world. You talk nonstop to EVERYONE! I hope that you always stay this confident and empathetic and that you never forget how much you are loved. I hope life is always an exciting adventure for you, my sweet boy!
Ella- My sweet and feisty girl, I can’t even tell you how much I adore you. You are the biggest ray of sunshine this earth has ever seen! You are beautiful, smart, kind, strong, funny…you are all of these things and so much more! Right now, you love picking out your outfit and bows for the day (your dad is amazing at doing your hair believe it or not), going to dance class, hanging out at the beach, playing with your dolls, cooking on your play kitchen, and doing crafts. You have the biggest heart, even people that don’t know you too well notice this…if someone falls at dance class, you are the first to run over to check on them, you make sure every girl has a sticker before you do, and before you leave you hug all of your friends, your teacher, and every parent in the room. You also have the best smile in the world, it lights up your entire face and any room that you walk in. I hope those long legs of yours continue to take you to all the places you dream of, I hope that you never forget how much you are loved, and I hope you never lose your joy!I am so proud of the little humans you are turning into and that I get to be your Mommy! I know your Daddy feels the exact same way. We love you so much and are forever thankful that you are ours!!
Love,
Mommy

What a sweet post for your children! I wish I had written letters to my children when they were young. I had to laugh at how Ella likes to eat. Our 3-year-old is the same.
Brianna
Never too late to start! <3 Thanks so much!

What a precious idea to write your babies. They are adorable. I had to chuckle at the family picture. I have some pictures like that too. Beautiful family.

You have to save this and show it to them every year. They are still so young you are lucky to have them for a few more years at home. I am so sad my girl is 18.5 and my son is only with us 4 more years in high school.
Brianna
I definitely will. Enjoy the last 4 years with your son at home!!

What an absolutely beautiful letter – so many memories created over 3 years for you all and so many more to be made.
Brianna
That means so much, thank you!

Awww they are so cute. What a great idea to send an email every year for them to read later on in life.
Brianna
Thanks so much! I hope they love it!

What a really sweet way to keep some sort of tradition and memory that your kiddos can look back on later on in life. I used to leave positive notes on my oldest child’s bedroom door and to this day she still has ALL of them. She will be 18 in 8 months, it warmed my heart to know she still had them and cherishes them. This is a good thing, Mama. So glad you did this!
Brianna
Aww, that is such a cute idea! And how special that she saved them all. She sounds like a wonderful kid!

Your letter is absolutely one of the best things I’ve ever read from parent to child. As I was reading it, I smiled, I chuckled, and got teary eyed. I can’t wait to watch them grow to be 4 and to ready your letter next year.
